OUR MISSION
CVEA aims to provide students in the County of Riverside the training and skills necessary to excel in the field of wind and solar energy in the Coachella Valley along with the academic rigor required for study in a traditional four-year university.
Our Philosophy of EducationCoachella Valley Energy Academy is providing training for a workforce in green energy, with the technical skills required to address wind and solar energy systems, as well as the cognitive skills for troubleshooting and critical thinking. Through hands-on training with real-world experiments and project-based learning, students will have access to an education that prepares them for a career in wind or solar energy. Although training is designated for the field of green energy and specializing in wind and solar cells, the academic rigor of CV Energy Academy matches that of a traditional college-preparatory curriculum. Students at CVEA will have the option to pursue a career in the field after obtaining a high school diploma, or continue academic endeavors in a field of a Science, Engineering, Technology, & Mathematics (STEM). |
Solar Energy
Solar energy is the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy source available, and the U.S. has some of the richest solar resources in the world. Modern technology can harness this energy for a variety of uses, including generating electricity, providing light or a comfortable interior environment, and heating water for domestic, commercial, or industrial use.

History
More than six million windmills and wind turbines have been installed in the United States in the last 150 years. Wind turbines were originally used to supply electricity to remote sites.

Wind Energy
Wind is a form of solar energy. Winds are caused by the uneven heating of the atmosphere by the sun, the irregularities of the earth's surface, and rotation of the earth. Wind flow patterns are modified by the earth's terrain, bodies of water, and vegetative cover. This wind flow, or motion energy, when "harvested" by modern wind turbines, can be used to generate electricity.
